Today, I’d love to introduce you to a wonderful little spot located in Mifune Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Higurashi CAFE & PIZZA”
It’s also home to Higurashi-gama, a traditional pottery kiln.

Tucked deep in the forest, this charming spot serves up truly delicious pizza.

Turn right between Yoshimuta Highlands and Yoshimuta Suigen (water source), and you’ll find yourself winding along a narrow mountain road leading deeper into the forest (^^)

Parking is conveniently located right in front of the cafe.

The entrance is a charming, old-fashioned little door that feels like stepping into a storybook (^-^)

Please remove your shoes before entering — Japanese style! (^-^)/

The interior has a truly indescribable, magical atmosphere ☆

You’ll be greeted by the beautiful handcrafted pottery from Higurashi-gama, which adds such a warm, artisanal touch (^o^)
All the pieces on display are also available for purchase (^^)

There’s also terrace seating, where you can enjoy your meal surrounded by nature (^-^)

They’re currently building a play area for kids, so it’ll be even more family-friendly soon — something to look forward to! (^^)

They have children’s chairs and picture books available,
so traveling with kids is a breeze (^^)

Climb the grand staircase to the second floor and you’ll discover
a treasure trove of handmade goods!

The first floor also features handmade accessories for sale — perfect for unique souvenirs!

For this visit, we ordered the
Pizza Set
(Higurashi Bacon Pizza) 1,500 yen

The set comes with pizza, salad, a drink, and dessert — quite a deal! (^^)

First up, the salad (^^)

Fresh local vegetables paired with a wonderfully tasty dressing!

The dishware is the same beautiful pottery sold at the entrance — a lovely touch.

The pizza crust is delightfully thin and crispy (^-^)/

The house-made bacon has just the right balance of saltiness, and combined with the cheese…

It’s an absolute match made in heaven! (^-^)/

We also shared this beauty —
a vegetable-loaded pizza

Beautifully colorful and, of course, absolutely delicious (^o^)

For dessert, we enjoyed
freshly ground coffee and milk mousse drizzled with kokuto (Japanese black sugar syrup)

Even though we were already stuffed from the pizza,
this dessert was so light and lovely that it just melted right in (^o^)

We could have eaten so much more! (^o^)
