About the Shop

Hello, travelers!

The other night I peeked at my child to see if they’d finally fallen asleep,
only to find a pair of huge eyes staring right back at me in the dark β€” terrifying!
This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer!

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to
“pandocoro”,
a charming little bakery located in Yuge, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

I previously introduced a fantastic bagel shop in Aso,
and this place blew me away just as much β€” seriously incredible!

[Cafe Bagel One] A Bagel Shop with Hearty and Sweet Options in Kawayo, Minamiaso Village, Aso District

Trust me β€” it’s so good you have to try it!

There are about 2 parking spots right next to the shop.

The staff here are incredibly friendly β€”
they even kindly explained how to get back onto the road when leaving. So helpful!

The bagels lined up in the showcase looked amazing β€”
and quite a few had already sold out by the time I arrived!

Tamba Black Bean & Macadamia β€” 280 yen
Made with whole wheat flour,
this bagel is already wonderfully wholesome β€”
but packed with extra goodness, it’s a true “angel bagel” for your body!

Mixed Seeds β€” 220 yen
“Mixed Seeds”… lol
So vague! lol
But that mystery is exactly what makes this bagel intriguing.
I’m a huge fan of seed-based breads, so this one had me thrilled!

Snack Rusk β€” 300 yen
Chocolate Almond Crunch β€” 250 yen
They also have gentle whole wheat cookies! ^^

On top of the showcase, you’ll find more than just bagels β€”
there are hard breads and other delicious options too.
According to reviews, since they use safe, natural ingredients,
some parents even buy these breads for their babies to teethe on!
I’d love to do the same with my next baby! lol

Seasonal Apple Pie β€” 200 yen
was also available!

Below the cash register you’ll find:
Gateau Chocolat β€” 190 yen
Carrot Cake β€” 170 yen
Queijo Sandwich β€” 350 yen
And a delicious selection of drinks too!

Recommended Menu

I went with the Tamba Black Bean & Macadamia β€” 280 yen

You may have already noticed from my writing,
but I absolutely love
health foods like whole wheat flour and brown rice! lol

So of course, I bought it without hesitation!

Those visible specks of whole wheat just made me grin from ear to ear.

And those HUGE black beans had me dancing! lol

So delicious I nearly fainted!

The black beans are sweet and tender, super easy to eat,
and the bread itself is fluffy, chewy, and beautifully fragrant β€” absolutely the best!

The chunky macadamia nuts add a wonderful texture,
and the subtle saltiness here and there means you could honestly eat these forever.

Honestly, one wasn’t enough β€” I really should have bought more!

The whole wheat cookies here are
satisfyingly crunchy with a gentle, mild flavor,
so even those who don’t love super-sweet treats will enjoy them. ^^

The perfect guilt-free snack!
