A Sarukuma writer visits “Floresta” in Hikari-no-Mori, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto. Prices start from just 130 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly features, access, and opening hours.

Hello, travelers!
Welcome to another tasty discovery from Kumamoto.
This is Nanako reporting!

Today I’m introducing a delightful little spot located in
Hikari-no-Mori, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Floresta”!

At Floresta, you can enjoy doughnuts that aren’t just delicious โ€” they’re also gentle on the body.

The shop uses domestically grown Japanese wheat, and even better,
they don’t use any preservatives or artificial additives!

These are doughnuts you can feel good about sharing with your kids.

You’ll find Floresta right across from the TSUTAYA bookstore near YouMe Town Hikari-no-Mori.

It sits on the same street as “Mori no Kuma-san Bon Gateau,” another lovely shop we’ve featured on Sarukuma.

I’ve personally nicknamed this street “Hikari-no-Mori Sweets Road”!

The parking lot is right in front of the shop, with space for 7 cars.

Just look at this warm, welcoming atmosphere.

So soothing, isn’t it? The sofa by the window looks especially inviting.

Floresta has an eat-in space, so you can enjoy your doughnuts on-site.

Cute decorations are tucked into every corner of the shop.

It’s impossible not to fall in love with the details!

You can even peek into the kitchen on your way to the eat-in area.

And the eat-in space itself is wonderfully relaxing.

There are 3 counter seats, plus…

2 table seats by the window.
My car-loving son was thrilled โ€” he could watch the cars passing by!

There’s also a sofa seat and another table seat further inside (no photos, sorry!).

Children’s chairs are available, so families with little ones can relax with peace of mind.

You can spend a leisurely afternoon flipping through magazines while you snack โ™ช

The restroom is also equipped with a diaper-changing table.

Such a lifesaver for parents!

And there’s even more good news for families…

Ta-da!

There’s a kids’ play area!!

Complete with a play kitchen,

picture books, wooden cars, and more!
A total game-changer for parents!

While we were there, several other little ones were happily playing in the corner too.

Recommended Menu

As soon as you step inside, you’ll see a display case packed with all kinds of doughnuts.

Starting with the Nature doughnut at 130 yen,

most options range from 130 to 230 yen.

So many flavors to choose from โ€” what a delight!

The Goro Goro Daigaku Imo (Candied Sweet Potato Doughnut, 230 yen) on the top shelf
is topped with chunks of Japanese candied sweet potato. Irresistible!

The Salted Caramel (180 yen) was so good last time I visited.

And the Matcha Milky looks absolutely tempting…

The staff’s top recommendation, Coffee (180 yen), also caught my eye.

As a cinnamon lover, I couldn’t ignore the
Organic Cinnamon (150 yen) on the bottom shelf either!

The Animal Doughnuts (230 yen) were sold out today.

These adorable doughnuts are guaranteed to put a smile on any child’s face,
so definitely visit the shop if you’re curious! โ™ช

They also sell doughnut rusks (toasted doughnut crisps) for 330 to 350 yen,
making them a perfect souvenir or self-treat from your trip.

The drink menu is impressive too!

Takeout is available, and you get a 50-yen discount when you order a drink with a doughnut. โ™ช

So, my son and I went with…

For our dine-in order, we got three doughnuts and
a Kids’ Apple Drink (100 yen)!

This kids’ drink is made from organically grown apples โ€” gentle on little tummies! โ™ช

And now, the doughnuts! First up…

Cocoa Crunch Milky (190 yen)

The crispy cocoa crunch gives such a satisfying texture โ€” absolutely delicious!!

Because the doughnut itself has a natural, gentle sweetness,
the creamy milky glaze really stands out.

Kuri Kinton (Sweet Chestnut, 230 yen)

True to its name, this doughnut is packed with the flavors of Japanese autumn โ˜†

The kuri kinton (sweet chestnut paste) sandwiched inside is heavenly, of course,
but the surrounding doughnut releases the most amazing hojicha (roasted green tea) aroma the moment you bite in…

Whoever thought to combine doughnuts with hojicha deserves all the gratitude in the world!

Sugar (130 yen)
Yes, it’s already half-eaten โ€” sorry!
My son devoured it before I had a chance to grab a photo.

The simple Nature doughnut is dusted with doughnut sugar,
perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Of course, I absolutely loved it too!
The fact that it costs the same as the plain Nature doughnut is a steal!!

What a wonderful afternoon โ€” gorgeous space, delicious doughnuts.
It was truly a blissful snack break.

Adults can unwind with delicious treats, and kids can have a great time too.
Floresta is a place I cannot recommend enough.
