A Sarukuma writer visits TORI.BOSI A-BASE, a unique container cafe located in the BASE area. Meal prices start from 650 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello there!

I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma,
always battling my year-round appetite!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot located in
Kajiya, Kamoto-machi, Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“TORI.BOSI A-BASE”.

This stylish container cafe is a popular pit stop β€”
you’ll often spot bikers stopping by for a meal here. ^^

There’s outdoor seating too, so you can dine al fresco.
On a sunny day, eating outside is the way to go!

Step inside and you’ll find the owner’s passion on full display β€”
this is a shrine to Eikichi Yazawa, Japan’s legendary rock star.

Seeing a place packed with so much love and personality
is enough to put a spring in your step!

In the upper left corner, you can even watch live concert DVDs,
so fans of “Eichan” (Yazawa’s beloved nickname) will leave with both their hearts and stomachs full!

Inside, you’ll find both counter seats and table seating. ^^

Every direction you look, the decor is full of fun details that lift your mood.

Recommended Menu

Here’s the menu β€”
Plate Lunches:
Fried Chicken Thigh Set Meal β€” 650 yen
Spicy Miso Pork Belly Set Meal β€” 650 yen
Big Chicken Cutlet Set Meal β€” 800 yen
Napolitan Spaghetti β€” 550 yen
Hayashi Rice with Plenty of Red Wine β€” 550 yen
Adult-Style Black Curry β€” 550 yen
The variety is impressive, and the prices are wonderfully reasonable! ^^

The drinks menu is just as well-stocked. ^^

And here’s the hot dog menu.

Set price β€” 950 yen
Single item β€” 550 yen ^^

They also offer desserts and sweets,
so it’s a great spot to drop by for a post-lunch treat too!

Here’s the takeout menu. ^^
Lots of options at very reasonable prices!

Sausage Toast β€” 550 yen
Made with thick-cut toast, this hearty option is a steal at just 550 yen.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll happily eat plenty of these.

First up, I tried the Adult-Style Black Curry!

The portions of rice and curry sauce are perfectly balanced.

The slow-building heat hits in the best way β€” utterly delicious.
The rice is soft and tasty, and
it disappears like a drink β€” almost too easy to finish.

The curry is rich and incredibly flavorful.
The owner kindly placed an extra glass of water beside me
in case the spice got too much β€” a truly warm-hearted gesture.

Next, I dug into the popular Napolitan spaghetti.

Served on a sizzling hot iron plate with a raw egg on top β€”
an absolutely irresistible presentation.

Hold on a second… lol
this is mind-blowingly delicious!

The chewy pasta is beautifully coated in a tangy-sweet tomato sauce.
As the egg gradually firms up from the heat, it ties everything together β€”
way beyond just “delicious.”

The pasta at the bottom gets perfectly crisped and a bit charred β€”
an absolutely unbeatable texture combo.
The taste was honestly a revelation.

It’s a nostalgic Japanese-style Napolitan with a wild edge,
and I was raving about how good it was right down to the very last bite.

They also sell snacks and sweets at the register,
so you can grab a treat to take home on your way out. ^^

Honestly β€” the atmosphere, the decor, the warmth of the owner,
and the food were all top-notch. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

Definitely give it a visit β€” you won’t regret it!
