About the Bakery

Hello there, fellow travelers!
This is Rikotama, your Sarukuma writer!

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a delightful little bakery called RedBean, tucked away in Jonan Town, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City!

This bakery just opened in October!

It’s brand new, sparkling, and ready to welcome you with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread. The exterior is absolutely adorable!

There are three parking spaces available right beside the shop!
※ As a bonus, there’s an unmanned vegetable stand right next door — it offers a wide variety of fresh produce at great prices!

The entrance is just as charming!

Now, let’s step inside!

The interior is bright, airy, and oh-so-cute!

Beautifully arranged loaves and rolls line up along the large window.

And just outside, there’s even a Christmas tree 🎄 — what a lovely touch!

There are plenty of drinks to choose from too!

“Bread Lover’s Milk” and “Bread Lover’s Café au Lait” — 500 ml ¥260 / 200 ml ¥130

They’ve got tempting sweets too!

Recommended Menu

According to the friendly staff, their top recommendation is the bagel!

When I arrived, they were still in the middle of preparation, but the staff kindly told me, “They’ll be ready in about 20 minutes!”
So I happily decided to wait!

※ During the wait, I popped over to the vegetable stand next door for some shopping!
…After 20 minutes of eager anticipation…

Wow!!!
Out came the freshly baked, piping-hot bagels!

Left: Beet & Cream Cheese Bagel

Right: Sesame, Kinako (roasted soybean flour) & Kanako Bean Bagel

Both look beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious!

So today, I picked up:

Brioche Cream Bread — ¥180

An (sweet red bean) Butter French — ¥250

Sesame, Kinako & Kanako Bean Bagel — ¥300

Time to dig in!

Look — kanako beans are peeking out from inside the bagel!
The crust has a wonderfully toasty flavor, while the dough is delightfully chewy and dense.
The aromas of sesame and kinako really shine through!

An Butter French!

Generous portions of both sweet red bean paste and creamy butter!
The crust is quite firm and crusty, but the more you chew, the more the sweetness and rich flavors come alive!

The Cream Bread features a wonderfully fluffy dough with a gentle, mild sweetness in the cream filling — pure comfort in every bite!

Located right behind the Jonan Children’s Center and Library in Minami Ward, this cozy bakery is the perfect stop after letting the kids play. Be sure to drop by!
