I’m Binako, a SaruKuma writer
who’s always wondering
where to take the kids next!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful little spot
located in Kawakage, Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Manpuku-goya Donburako”.

While driving down the road,
the word “Takoyaki” caught my eye…

Wouldn’t you want to grab some takoyaki with your kids?!
That was it — I pulled in immediately.

Plenty of customers were picking up reservations,
and bikers kept rolling in too — it’s clearly a beloved local secret.
The owner mentioned, “We don’t really advertise this place out front,”
which makes finding it feel even more special.

I… discovered it☆

Out front, they also sell fresh local vegetables,
so you can pick up dinner ingredients while munching on takoyaki.

By the way, I made a hot pot tonight!

Inside, you’ll also find Japanese sweets and snacks,
making it a fun stop for kids too ^^

Near the register,
you’ll find homemade cookies and scones —
perfect little treats to take along (*´ω｀*)

Here’s a look at the menu:

Big Takoyaki — 500 yen
Green Onion & Mayo Takoyaki — 600 yen
Spicy Mentaiko Mayo Takoyaki — 600 yen
Cheese Topping — 100 yen

Donburako Original “Takou-maki” Roll — 500 yen

For first-time visitors, the Big Takoyaki is the recommended pick!

So I went with
Big Takoyaki — 500 yen!

Here it is~~!

Plump takoyaki balls packed tightly into the tray —
an absolutely glorious sight to behold.

Generously coated in savory sauce,
each piece is melt-in-your-mouth tender,
with rich umami flowing freely with every bite (*´Д｀)

Each ball contains a generously sized chunk of octopus,
so you can really sink your teeth in and savor the flavor.

What an incredible find!

You absolutely have to try this place for yourself~~!
