About the Shop

Hello there!

I’m Binako, a SaruKuma writer who’s been over the moon lately because my son has finally started eating salad!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful little spot located in Higashino, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Delica Shop Higashino”.

There’s a Lawson convenience store right next door, and every time I stopped by Lawson I’d find myself curious about this place — so I finally made it my lunchtime mission to visit!

Just nearby, you’ll also find [Takamotoya, the Black Vinegar Chicken Nanban Specialty Shop], which we’ve also featured on SaruKuma ♪

There’s even a vending machine right next to the register at Delica Shop Higashino, so you can grab a drink to go with your meal ♪

And there’s parking available right in front of the shop ^^

From Western-style dishes to bento and curry, this little bento shop boasts a surprisingly varied menu!

This time, I went with the
Side Dish Assortment — 320 yen!

True to its name, it was absolutely loaded with a variety of side dishes — what a treat (*´Д｀)

I LOVE kombu (simmered kelp).
It has this lovely chewy texture that really lets you taste traditional Japanese flavors~

Light and refreshing, it’s absolutely delicious (*´Д｀)

The assortment also comes with chicken katsu (breaded chicken cutlet).
Great value for the price.

There’s tonkatsu sauce on the side too, and once you drizzle it on…
pure heaven.

The tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) has a gentle sweetness and a soothing dashi flavor — it really has that comforting, homemade touch (*´ω｀*)

The eggplant tempura is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and tasty enough to enjoy just on its own ♪

This much satisfaction for just 320 yen…

seriously incredible.
It pairs perfectly with a bowl of rice.
If a single onigiri (rice ball) just isn’t going to cut it for you, this is the perfect option.
