Hello, travelers!
This is Saa-mama, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’d like to introduce you to
“Clutch Cafe”,
located in Tatsuda Jinnai, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

There’s a parking lot right in front of the shop — super convenient if you’re driving!

This stylish café opened on July 15, 2020, in the spot that was formerly known as Tatsuda Cafe.

The interior is filled with lush greenery and beautifully curated furniture, creating a chic, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you want to settle in for a while. (*^^*)

You’ll find regular table seating,

plus comfortable sofa seating!
The staff even keeps play mats on hand for the floor, so little ones can play or even take a nap — making this a wonderfully relaxing spot for families with young children. ^-^♪

Here’s another sofa area — the left side is extra wide, and the staff kindly told us it’s perfectly fine to let your baby nap there. It’s truly a café that goes the extra mile for parents traveling with children. (*^^*)

There’s also a lovely terrace area! When the weather is mild, the gentle breeze makes it the perfect open-air spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch. (*´∀`)♪

Children’s chairs are available too! ♫
The interior is spacious enough to navigate easily with a stroller, and on top of that, the owner and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making this one of the most comfortable cafés to spend an afternoon in. (≧∀≦)
Recommended Menu

Great-value morning sets are served from 7:30 to 11:00,

followed by the lunch menu from 11:00 to 15:00.

A wallet-friendly original set featuring a different main dish every day, prepared with seasonal ingredients. ♫
Select Lunch (main dish, soup, fresh salad, choice of bread or rice, and a drink)
You can choose your main from these three options:
Cube Roll Steak (1,600 yen)
Hand-formed Hamburger Steak (1,300 yen)
Grilled Chicken Steak (1,200 yen)
For drinks, take your pick from iced coffee, hot coffee, iced café au lait, hot café au lait, tea (lemon or straight), cola, ginger ale, 100% apple juice, 100% orange juice, or oolong tea. ♫

From 15:00 to 20:00, the Grand Menu kicks in, featuring
signature steak, hand-formed hamburger steak (980 yen), classic-style Napolitan pasta (680 yen), and à la carte dishes.

There’s also a tempting selection of drinks and desserts, including:
French Toast (980 yen)
Apple Pie (980 yen)
Hot Sandwich — Sweet Red Bean & Butter (500 yen)
Coffee Jelly (330 yen)
Ice Cream — 330 yen (Vanilla, Chocolate, or Strawberry)

The parfaits look absolutely irresistible too! ♬

On the day of my visit, the daily special — karaage (Japanese fried chicken) & crab gratin croquette — caught my eye, so I went with the Daily Lunch (1,000 yen).

It came with a generous salad, pickles, plenty of veggies, and a heaping mound of rice — plus soup and a drink. Honestly, an unbeatable deal! (≧∀≦)

The karaage was perfectly juicy, and the crab gratin croquette was huge — crispy on the outside, with a creamy macaroni filling that just melts in your mouth. Every bite was delicious, and the portions were genuinely satisfying. (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

For dessert, I tried the Chocolate Ice Cream (330 yen),
the Coffee Jelly (330 yen),

and the Hot Sandwich — Sweet Red Bean & Butter (500 yen).
The hot sandwich was packed with sweet red bean paste, and because it’s served warm, the butter melts into it just perfectly — absolutely heavenly! ♡

When you go out to lunch with a baby, it’s natural to worry about disturbing other guests — but here, the staff actually came over to chat with the baby and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
I’ve never experienced such genuinely thoughtful service before — it’s an incredibly cozy place
brimming with warmth and kindness, and you’ll be itching to come back the moment you leave! ♡
