Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Nishikigaoka, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City —
Oyatsuya You.

What a charming little shop! ♡

You’ll find it right next to the Lawson convenience store on Jieitai-dori (Self-Defense Forces Street).
It’s on the first floor of an apartment building.

Honestly, who would expect to find a specialty muffin shop tucked away in a spot like this? It’s easy to miss! (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ

And there’s a good reason for that!

The shop is only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — just four days a week!

The weather was beautiful, which meant the sunlight reflected off the display case in nearly every photo!

Candied Chestnut — 330 yen

Black Tea & Cookie — 250 yen

Fig & Walnut — 300 yen

Chocolate Drizzle — 250 yen

Tea & Azuki Bean — 230 yen

Raspberry Jam — 250 yen

And they also offer Tofu Donuts! ♪

Inside the shop, I found a small booklet with detailed info about the ingredients used in their muffins and tofu donuts, along with storage tips and reheating instructions — such a thoughtful touch! (*^-^*)

Everything is handcrafted fresh each day.

The shop uses domestic, pesticide-free, and organic ingredients whenever possible.

Rather than chasing trends, the bakers focus on creating treats that can become a comforting part of your everyday life — made with care, every single day.

You can really feel the message behind the shop: they want their customers to enjoy something that’s truly gentle on the body. ♡

This time, I tried the seasonal Candied Chestnut Muffin (330 yen) and the Plain Muffin (220 yen).

First up — the Plain Muffin!

Wow — look at how it’s overflowing from its paper cup!

Talk about a generous serving! (≧▽≦)

And the flavor? From the very first bite, you experience a ≪gentle, mellow sweetness≫.
How can I describe it? There’s nothing artificial about it — just a pure, natural taste.

The more you chew, the more the natural sweetness blooms. ☆

Next — the Candied Chestnut Muffin!

Inside, I discovered a big, hearty piece of candied chestnut, plus plenty of small, diced chestnut pieces throughout!

Yes! Another absolute winner!

The fluffy muffin batter pairs beautifully with the sweet chestnuts. (*^▽^*)

※ It actually reminded me of the kuri-kanoko from my hometown of Obuse in Nagano Prefecture — a famous chestnut sweet from that region.

There were so many other tempting muffins and tofu donuts on display that I’m already planning my next visit!
