Introducing Torimaru
Hello, everyone! ๐
This is Yuzu, writer for Sarukuma ๐ป
Today I’m introducing
Kumamoto Karaage Torimaru,
located in Kashima Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture.
Their salt karaage earned back-to-back championship titles at the 6th and 7th Kumamoto Karaage Championships โ a true V2 victory!
You’ll find it right next to Kushiyaki Rinku, which I featured previously ๐

Right next to DESAKI Kashima โ
There’s plenty of parking, too ๐

The colorful flag banners outside make the shop easy to spot ๐

Outside, there are chairs to sit on while you wait ๐
There’s even an electric fan โ such a thoughtful touch ๐ฅฐ

Now, on to the menu!
Here’s the menu ๐
The gold medal shines proudly โ

In addition to the regular menu, there are seasonal autumn specials:
Spicy Miso Sauce Bento
Tori Curry Maru (you can add cheese, fried shrimp, or squid rings as toppings)
Yokozuna Bento ๐ (the Yokozuna Bento has seriously generous portions!)

And it’s not just karaage โ
Cheese Dogs are on the menu too ๐
Cheese dogs are perfect for a quick snack or as an extra side ๐

Torimaru has multiple locations across the area, so be sure to drop by the one closest to you ๐

There are benches over by DESAKI,
so you can enjoy your fresh-from-the-fryer karaage or bento right there ๐
Torimaru’s Recommended Menu

First up, I tried the
Garlic Soy Sauce Karaage โ 100g for 250 yen ๐
Bold, deep flavor โ absolutely delicious!
It pairs perfectly with rice, makes a great drinking snack, or works as a tasty treat anytime!
(The chicken is marinated for two full days in a secret garlic soy sauce blended from seven ingredients.)
Next up โ

The Gold Medal Winner
Salt Karaage โ 100g for 250 yen
(Marinated for two days in a blend of three different salt sauces, then finished with a special seasoning salt โ Torimaru’s all-time No. 1 bestseller.)
Wow, just incredible!
So delicious!
Some salt karaage can taste bland or just like plain salt and pepper โ
but this one is on a completely different level!
Hot and fresh out of the fryer is amazing, of course,
but even after some time, the flavor stays just as wonderful ๐
