📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer personally visits “Si-Sa Okinawan Cuisine” in the Kengun area of Kumamoto City’s Higashi Ward. Budget guide: from 1,000 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access information, and opening hours.

Hello there, fellow travelers!
I’m Ayu-mama, a writer for “SaruKuma.”

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a gem located in the Kengun district of Kumamoto City’s Higashi Ward,
“Si-Sa Okinawan Cuisine”!
You’ll find it just a short stroll from the Kengun Shopping Street!
Look out for the bright yellow sign and
the distinctive Okinawan red-tiled roof — they’re the perfect landmarks!

Inside, the restaurant is decorated with Orion Beer lanterns (Orion is Okinawa’s iconic local beer),
creating an atmosphere bursting with tropical Okinawan vibes!
For a moment, you might genuinely forget you’re in Kumamoto and feel like you’ve been transported to Okinawa!
Just look at this extensive menu!
The drink selection even includes awamori (Okinawa’s traditional distilled rice spirit),
so you can enjoy authentic Okinawan cuisine without ever leaving Kumamoto!
There’s also tatami seating available, making it perfect for families with kids!
There’s even an elevated tatami area (small raised seating room),
which gives you that fun “secret hideaway” feeling.

And get this — they even offer a point card!
If you’re a fan, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this!

Recommended Menu Items

This time, we couldn’t resist the “Senbero” deal,
so here’s what we ordered!
※Available only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
This service runs from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

“Senbero” is Japanese slang meaning “get tipsy for just 1,000 yen”
— short for “sen-en de bero-bero”!!
Pretty awesome, right?!
You can choose from the dedicated Senbero menu, getting
3 drinks plus one appetizer for just 1,000 yen + tax.
(Note: drinks cannot be shared)

For drink number one, I went with a beer, of course!
For my appetizer, I picked the SPAM cutlet!
When you think Okinawa, you think SPAM — and I’m a huge fan!

For drink number two, I went with another beer.
For my son, I separately ordered sanpin tea (Okinawan jasmine tea) for 300 yen!
It arrived in a beer mug — talk about generous portions!
The friendly staff even kindly added a straw for my son!
For my son, I also ordered
Okinawa soba for 650 yen!
When I mentioned it was for a child,
they thoughtfully checked about green onions and pickled red ginger (beni shoga)!
These little touches of consideration are exactly what families with kids appreciate!
We asked them to skip the pickled ginger for my son.
My son, who absolutely loves Okinawa soba, polished it off in no time.
For my third drink, I went for awamori on the rocks (well, with water)!
As an extra, we also ordered mozuku seaweed tempura for 480 yen!
It’s a dish that’s hard to make at home,
so I always order it whenever I visit an Okinawan restaurant!
Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — the perfect companion to awamori!!!

When we visited, the timing wasn’t right, but
upon request, the staff also offers
a special service of singing and playing traditional Okinawan songs live!

If you visit, definitely don’t be shy — give them a request!!
