Welcome to Myoken Manju

Hi there — this is Aikero, a writer for SaruKuma.

Today I’m taking you to Myokenmachi in Yatsushiro City, home of
Myoken Manju, a charming little sweets shop you won’t want to miss.
Located just 5 minutes from the Yatsushiro IC and right across from Myoken-gu Shrine, this manju shop is the perfect stop after paying your respects at the shrine.
Google Maps will guide you straight to the door — no detours required.
There’s one parking space available at the Myoken-gu Shrine parking lot, marked by a small signboard.
Inside, there’s a cozy eat-in space, so you can relax and enjoy your treats on the spot.
From the counter seats, you’ll get a beautiful view of Myoken-gu Shrine itself.
Here’s a look at the menu (^^)

・Myoken Manju — 180 yen
(black or white bean filling)

・Myoken Manju — 230 yen
(cream cheese)

・Myoken Soft Serve — from 380 yen

・Myoken Chugu Cold-Brew Hojicha — 300 yen

・Myoken Chugu Iced Coffee — 350 yen

The cold-brew hojicha and iced coffee are made with spring water from Myoken Chugu — a thoughtful touch you can really taste.

What to Order at Myoken Manju

I went with the black-bean and white-bean Myoken Manju, plus a chocolate-kinako Myoken Soft Serve.
I didn’t get to watch them being grilled this time, but the manju from the warmer were piping hot and ready to enjoy!
I’ve always been a white-bean fan when it comes to imagawayaki-style sweets!
The pastry was thin in the center, packed generously with sweet bean paste — a perfect bite.
The slightly chewy outer dough paired with the sweet anko filling was simply delicious ♫
The soft serve has a crisp, crackly chocolate coating — kids will love it!
It’s wonderfully creamy, with a rich milky flavor too.
Warm manju paired with cold soft serve? Trust me — it’s a match made in heaven!
Each Myoken Manju is stamped with the family crest of Myoken-gu Shrine — a one-of-a-kind treat you’ll only find here.
Next time you’re in Yatsushiro, be sure to give them a try!
