About Kumatoyo Sports Park (Kashima Town Sports Complex)

Hello there!
This is Ayumama, writer for “Sarukuma.”

Today I’m introducing
Shimorokka, Kashima Town, Kamimashiki District, home to
【Kumatoyo Sports Park (Kashima Town Sports Complex)】.

This peaceful sports complex sits close to Lake Ezu and is surrounded by rice fields — a wonderfully relaxing setting!

It’s also just 10 minutes by car from AEON Mall Kumamoto and Costco Mifune Warehouse, so it’s perfect for combining with a shopping trip ♪
The parking lot is spacious!
On weekends when matches or tournaments are held, it can get crowded — so plan accordingly!
You’ll enter through the entrance next to the vending machines beyond the parking lot.
There’s even an ice cream vending machine!
(Warning: kids will definitely beg for one on the way home…)

Pets are not allowed.
Please leave them at home.
Walk up this slope and…
a beautiful multipurpose athletic field appears!
(Fun fact: this blue track is said to enhance focus through color psychology, helping athletes achieve better times!)
The outer perimeter doubles as a jogging course, perfect for running or walking!
Along the jogging course, you’ll find benches where you can rest or set down your belongings,

and water fountains too.
There are also tennis courts
and a baseball field
Weekends are filled with games and tournaments!

Highlights of Kumatoyo Sports Park (Kashima Town Sports Complex)

Here’s our top recommendation…
As you continue along the jogging course, you’ll spot…
a giant playground!

That’s right — there’s a full playground tucked behind the athletic field!

It might just be the largest combination playground in this entire area!

There’s a tall, super-long slide
that’s
a huge hit with kids!
And there’s even another slide on the back side!

There are cute animal-shaped play structures, with a small sandbox right next to them.

There’s also an adorable sunflower-shaped swing,

and a Tarzan rope!

There’s a beautiful grass field where kids can freely play with balls and run around!

Restrooms are available too,

and the multipurpose restroom has a diaper-changing table and baby seat!

There’s also a hand-washing station,

and clean benches where you can take a break.

One of the best things about this park is that it’s completely surrounded by the jogging course and isn’t adjacent to any roads — so there’s no worry about kids running into traffic!

With few trees blocking the view, sightlines are excellent. Parents can let their kids play freely while keeping a clear eye on them at all times!

Since it’s so close to AEON Mall Kumamoto, why not stop by this park on the way home from shopping and let the whole family relax and play in peace?
