Introducing COLOMBO7

Hello travelers! This is Mido, a writer for [SaruKuma].

Today I’m introducing COLOMBO7, located in Goryo, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City.
[COLOMBO7] is a hidden gem serving authentic Sri Lankan curry right here in eastern Kumamoto.

I had been craving a real Sri Lankan curry β€” the kind you just can’t recreate at home β€” so I headed straight to the restaurant to check it out.

I visited with a friend and her baby, and the staff welcomed us so warmly![COLOMBO7] sits along National Route 57, just a short distance from YouMe Town Sanpian β€” easy to find if you’re exploring the area.Look for this signboard and the colorful nobori flags out front! There are 5 parking spaces in front of the shop, but the lot is on the smaller side, so please park carefully!
The interior is bright and spotless!
Inside you’ll find 4 tables (three 4-seaters and one 2-seater) plus a counter β€” perfect even if you’re dining solo.
Here’s the menu at [COLOMBO7]!
There are 4 types of curry to choose from.
Dry Curry Rice β€” 900 yen
Noodles β€” 900 yen
Normal Curry Rice β€” 900 yen
Pork Steak Curry Rice β€” 900 yen

You can pick from 3 spice levels: “Mild Spicy,” “Medium,” or “Hot.”
A large portion is +200 yen, and an extra cup of curry soup is also +200 yen!
That “Pork Steak Curry Rice” really catches the eye, doesn’t it?
They also serve alcohol.
Since the dinner service runs until 10:00 PM, this is a great spot to pair Sri Lankan curry with a drink after a long day of sightseeing!

Sri Lankan beers “Lion Lager” and “Lion Stout” are 660 yen each.
You’ll even find “Arrack,” a traditional Sri Lankan spirit, on the drink list.
There’s a wide selection of drinks beyond that β€” wine, shochu, and more.
For non-drinkers, the soft drink menu includes mango juice and a refreshing mango lassi!
Opening hours are 11:00 AM–3:00 PM and 6:00 PM–10:00 PM, closed on Tuesdays.

COLOMBO7 β€” Recommended Menu Items

Let me walk you through the “Noodles” and the “Dry Curry Rice.”

It’s not listed on the menu, but every curry order comes with a complimentary salad and tea β€” such a nice touch! β™ͺ
First up, the “Noodles.”
I ordered medium spice.
It’s loaded with shrimp, bell peppers, carrots, and other goodies, and the rice noodles (bihun) are delicious!
Eating it together with the curry soup makes it even better β™ͺ
Big chunks of chicken and potato.
The gentle heat warms you right up, and I left feeling completely satisfied. β™ͺ
And here’s the “Dry Curry Rice.”
I honestly forget which spice level I chose this time (either Mild Spicy or Medium).
The broth is light and pourable, so even if Kumamoto’s summer heat has zapped your appetite, it goes down easily!
Being able to pick your perfect spice level is a real plus β™ͺ
Both dishes were absolutely delicious!!

If you’re visiting Kumamoto, treat yourself to authentic Sri Lankan curry at COLOMBO7 β€” you won’t regret it! β™ͺ
