Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Hirai, Ueki-machi, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City:
Kazoku Furo Hanamizuki (Family Hot Spring Hanamizuki)

Isn’t this the perfect season for a BBQ with family or friends?
If you’re nodding yes, this place is a must-visit! Hanamizuki in Ueki is a unique private hot spring facility where you can enjoy a completely hassle-free BBQ — no prep, no cleanup, just show up empty-handed and have fun! \(^o^)/

At the back of the parking lot, you’ll find a wide, grassy BBQ area (^-^)/

There’s even a designated smoking area on site!

Forgot to bring drinks? No worries — there are two vending machines on the property (*^^*)

And here’s the BBQ space itself!

It’s fully covered, so you can grill and enjoy yourself even on rainy days (^-^)/

Trash bins are provided too, so you don’t have to take any garbage home — a huge plus (^-^)

You’re also welcome to bring your own food at no extra charge — how generous is that?!

Each course has a 2-hour time slot, but groups of 20 or more can extend up to 3 hours.

There’s also a refrigerator on site for keeping your food and drinks cool — super convenient! (^-^)/

Bonus: BBQ guests can use the private hot spring (kazoku furo) at a discounted rate of just ¥1,000 — a fantastic deal! (^з^)-☆

The hot spring building also has a nursing room.
From the window, you can watch your kids playing on the lawn — perfect peace of mind for parents with multiple children (^-^)

There’s even a sweet, gentle resident cat to greet you — instant stress relief!

Time extensions are possible! ¥1,000 per additional hour (per loop).
Reservations are required by 5:00 PM the day before.

Recommended BBQ Course at Kazoku Furo Hanamizuki

We went with the ¥2,500 BBQ Course (*^^*)
The charcoal was already prepped and ready by our reservation time, so we could start grilling right away! (*^^*)

This is the set for 5 people!

Honestly, there was so much meat we barely got to the vegetables… (^^;

Foil-grilled vegetables are also part of the course (^-^)/

On the left, bean sprouts; on the right, enoki mushrooms. Steamed in foil, they made the perfect light bite between rounds of meat — delicious! (^o^)

Here’s a really special treat — onigiri (rice balls) made with rice cooked using hot spring water! They have a slightly yellow tint and a subtle natural sweetness — absolutely amazing! (^o^)

The owner said they’re even better grilled, but…
they were so tasty, we ate them all before we could try grilling them! (^^;

Since outside food is welcome, we brought along marshmallows — the kids’ favorite! (^з^)-☆

After eating their fill, the kids ran out to the wide grass field right in front of us to play with the balls we’d brought along!
The space is perfectly sized for parents to keep an eye on the kids while enjoying a second round of BBQ or a relaxing coffee break. Pure bliss~
