Introducing Riinchi no Okashi

Hello there!
I’m Binako, a Sarukuma writer, and I’m absolutely thrilled because I just got my hands on a white eggplant!

Today I’d like to introduce you to a charming little sweets shop located in Suya, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Riinchi no Okashi”.

The shop is located on the second floor of an apartment building, so if you’re visiting with a stroller, I recommend carrying your little one up the stairs.

Parking is available behind the Okamura sign.

Once you climb the stairs, you’ll find the door — no need to knock, just come right in! ♪

As soon as you open the door, you’ll spot a glass display case filled with mouthwatering sweets right in the entryway.
The cream puffs come in three delicious varieties: Custard, Whipped Cream, and Custard & Whipped Cream.

On top of the display case, you’ll find banana cake (sold by the slice), and…

…a special Chocolate Banana Bread (100 yen) that was being offered exclusively that day.

The shelves in the back hold langues de chat cookies and whole banana cakes, perfect for an afternoon snack or as a thoughtful souvenir to bring home! ♪

The prices are wonderfully wallet-friendly — almost dangerously so! (laughs)
All three cream puff varieties are just 120 yen each, so why not grab one of each and share with friends?

You can also pick up coffee here, making it the perfect stop for a scenic drive companion or a relaxing little break.

Recommended Menu at Riinchi no Okashi

This time I tried:
・Banana Pound Cake (150 yen)
・Cream Puff (120 yen)
・Chocolate Banana Bread (100 yen)
・Langues de Chat (200 yen)

These palm-sized cream puffs are absolutely perfect.
Of course, I went all-in and chose the indulgent Custard & Whipped Cream combo.

The smooth, mellow sweetness of the custard paired with the rich whipped cream is pure bliss.
Its handy size makes it ideal as a sweet finish to any meal.

The banana cake has a wonderfully moist texture, with the gentle aroma of banana wafting through every bite — comforting and nostalgic.
It has that warm, homemade quality that kids adore, and it left me feeling completely at ease.

The glossy surface of the chocolate banana bread looks irresistible.

Break it open and you’ll find generous chunks of chocolate snuggled up with banana — adorably tucked inside.
The banana-and-chocolate combo is a guaranteed winner, but the bread itself is so delicious I devoured it in no time.

The langues de chat are wonderfully crisp and crumbly, melting in your mouth — you’ll find yourself reaching for another, and another.
Their long, slim shape makes them easy to nibble on, and they’re perfect to tuck into your bag for when hunger strikes.

The sweetness is just right, gently soothing a tired body and soul.

The shop owner is so warm and welcoming that you’ll be tempted to linger and chat for hours… (laughs)

This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back — both for the sweets and for the wonderful person behind them.
