Introducing equipment:FLOOR
Hello travelers! It’s your SaruKuma writer, the aroma-loving girl (*^-^*)
Today I’m taking you to a charming spot in Ikeda, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City,
“equipment:FLOOR” — a true hidden gem!
This cozy hideaway café is tucked into a residential neighborhood. Look for the “Curry and Rice” flag and the cute
orange-colored entrance — that’s your sign you’ve arrived.
As you walk through the quiet streets, the adorable house-style exterior peeks out to greet you ♪

Turn right at the entrance and you’ll spot the parking area ♪

It’s best to fill in the spots starting from the back (*^-^*)
There’s room for 5–6 cars, but since it’s a popular spot, carpooling is recommended!
The moment you step out of your car, the rich aroma of curry and exotic spices drifts your way —
as a self-confessed foodie, my stomach was already rumbling (laughs).
The cute standing menu board greets you outside.

Step inside and you’re welcomed by stylish interiors and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Ethnic-inspired décor and a relaxed vibe set the tone.
You’ll find sofa seats, private rooms, and counter seating.
If you have a favorite spot in mind, reservations are highly recommended!
Choosing what to order is always the hardest part!

Daily specials and chef’s recommendations are posted right here ♪

Decisions, decisions! ♡

Everything is delicious, but this time I went with the Green Curry.
It has a gentle kick of spice balanced beautifully by sweet vegetables and creamy coconut milk —
before I knew it, my spoon was on autopilot!
The side dishes burst with spice, and the tangy vegetable pickles really wake up your appetite!

And then — the one I’d been eyeing — the Seasonal Limited Strawberry Parfait (*^-^*)
950 yen (1,300 yen with a drink set)
Even with a full belly, this parfait calls your name ♪
I demolished it in no time! The seasonal parfaits and cakes here, packed with fresh ingredients, are always a hit.
The first edition wraps up at the end of January, but no worries ( *´艸`) — a second edition starts in February, and I can’t wait!
Don’t miss the parfait’s inner layers! The staff actually explains what’s inside each one.
Just look at that cross-section! Every spoonful brings a new flavor combination,
so you can keep guessing what’s coming next ♪

Parfaits and cakes change with the seasons, so every visit feels fresh and satisfying!

Worried that Asian food might be too spicy for kids? Don’t be!
You’re in good hands! They have a proper Kids’ Lunch Set, and the keema curry is genuinely outstanding.
It’s a kids’ meal, but stylish enough to impress ♡ My own children gobble it up every time.
There’s also an Omu-Keema Lunch and other kid-friendly options to choose from.
At the back of the café there’s a Japanese-style tatami room stocked with toys, books, and a play kitchen — kids love it.

Moms can relax and enjoy lunch while keeping an eye on the little ones,
which makes it a popular venue for mom-friend get-togethers and group outings.

Plenty of picture books too! The kids will keep themselves entertained ♪
The owner and staff are warm-hearted, fun to chat with, and full of smiles.
Regulars tend to grab the counter seats. It’s also wonderfully welcoming for solo diners ☆
They sell bento boxes off-site too, and lately takeout has become especially popular.
On select weekends, they host the famous “Engawa Bento Sale”
Wondering what an “Engawa Bento Sale” is?
It’s a bento sale held from the engawa (traditional Japanese veranda) right by the parking lot.
Many customers swing by drive-thru style.
You can grab bento boxes, cakes, tarts, and more.

The prices are wonderfully reasonable!

They also pop up at events and host traveling sales around the area —
