About the Park

Hello, travelers!
This is Rikotama, your Sarukuma writer!

Today I’m taking you to a hidden local gem in Shin-Oe, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City โ€”
Obinishi Murasaki Park (ๅธฏ่ฅฟใ‚€ใ‚‰ใ•ใๅ…ฌๅœ’)!

This park was built recently, and everything still feels brand-new and beautifully kept (*^-^*)

You’ll find it just across the street from Marushoku Hokubo Store, a handy local supermarket โ€” perfect for combining errands and playtime!

The restroom is Western-style โ€” a relief for international visitors!
Note: there is no diaper-changing station.

And here’s the drinking fountain โ€” perfect for thirsty little explorers!

There’s one covered bench for those rainy or sunny days, plus three additional regular benches scattered throughout the park.

Around the perimeter, you’ll find a walking course popular with local residents (*’ฯ‰’*)
During my visit, a gentleman was out enjoying his daily stroll!

You’ll even find outdoor fitness equipment for a quick workout while the kids play โ™ฌ

Highlights for Families

The play equipment includes a fun slide

…and swings!
The safety fencing is set generously wide, so parents can relax (*ยดฯ‰๏ฝ€*)

Adorable spring-rider toys!
A friendly hippo ๐Ÿฆ and a cheerful giraffe ๐Ÿฆ’ waiting for little riders.

It’s a bit hard to tell from the photo, but there are also two gentle grassy mounds โ€” perfect little hills for kids to scamper up and roll down (*^โ–ฝ^*)

There’s no on-site parking or vending machine, but with Marushoku supermarket right across the street, it’s easy to grab snacks and drinks while letting the kids burn off some energy!

The park also has flower beds and cherry blossom ๐ŸŒธ trees, so it transforms into a truly gorgeous spring destination when the sakura bloom โ™ฌ

Best of all, the park is impeccably clean and well-maintained, giving it a refreshing, welcoming atmosphere (*ยดโ–ฝ๏ฝ€*)
If you’re exploring central Kumamoto with kids, definitely add this spot to your itinerary!
