About the Restaurant

Hello travelers! ☺️
This is Yuzu, a writer for Sarukuma 😀

Today we’re heading to Komori in Nishihara Village, Aso District, to introduce
Farm Kitchen ORTO (オルト) ⭐︎

You’ll spot the restaurant on the right-hand side as you head from central Kumamoto City toward Mt. Tawarayama 😊
This charming building might look familiar to some of you!
I had been wanting to visit for ages but could never quite find the right timing,
so I was beyond excited for this day to finally arrive 😆

What makes ORTO truly special is its very own ORTO Vegetable Garden 😁
That means at ORTO, you get to enjoy fresh, home-grown vegetables straight from the farm 🤩
It’s a wonderfully safe and wholesome choice for kids too ☺️

Out front, you’ll find this adorable little faucet and shower 🚿
And yes, the water actually works! 😄

The menu is posted right outside the entrance 😀

Sweet potatoes are sold by weight at 50 yen per 100 grams 🍠

That kind of thoughtful touch really warms the heart 🥰

Just outside the restroom, there are even hand towels waiting 🥰
Could the hospitality possibly get any sweeter? ☺️

This time, I went for the Seasonal Vegetable Pasta — 1,900 yen 😄

First up, the appetizers.

A delightful sampler of 9 bite-sized appetizers!
Each one beautifully showcased the natural flavor of the ingredients — absolutely delicious!
The soup in front is sweet potato soup 🍠

Next came the main dish — fresh handmade pasta 🍝

Today’s pasta was an oil-based dish 😄
I asked for a smaller portion, so the regular serving is normally larger 😆

The flat noodles soaked up the oil beautifully — so flavorful!
As a fresh pasta lover, I’m so glad I ordered this 🥰

To finish, dessert and coffee arrived 😄
The apple compote in front was simply heavenly 😍

My friend ordered the hamburger steak, which came piled with vegetables
and topped with a generous mound of grated daikon — she said it was incredible 🥰

I’m so glad I finally made it here 🥰
Every dish felt nourishing and gentle on the body.
