A Sarukuma writer pays a real visit to “Michi-no-Eki Mizube Plaza Kamoto” in Kajiya, Kamoto-machi, Yamaga City. We’ve packed in family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

About the Facility

Hello, travelers!

I once popped a strawberry-flavored candy
that tasted suspiciously like medicine β€”
I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma!

Today I’m taking you to
Kajiya, Kamoto-machi, Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture,
to visit “Michi-no-Eki Mizube Plaza Kamoto” β€” a charming roadside station.

Just a short walk down from Mizube Plaza Kamoto,
you’ll find a wonderful park (^^β™ͺ

You’re welcome to use the Mizube Plaza Kamoto parking lot,
but there’s also handy parking right under the park bridge ^^

Here’s a great tip: pick up a bento (lunch box) or other goodies at Mizube Plaza Kamoto,
enjoy your meal, and then let the kids loose at the park afterward.

Note: there are no restrooms inside the park itself,
but Mizube Plaza Kamoto offers diaper-changing tables
and a nursing room, so I recommend taking care of bathroom breaks before heading over ^^

Inside the park you’ll find handwashing stations and drinking fountains too.

Vending machines are nearby as well, so you can grab a hot or cold drink
while you’re playing β€” perfect for any season.

What Makes This Spot Special

The park doesn’t have a huge variety of equipment,
but there are plenty of slides β€” my child had a blast deciding which one to slide down next. There are about 4 slides in total.
There are also lots of climbing structures (no boring stairs here),
so kids can really build up their strength and confidence.

My son was actually scared of the blue one in the foreground of the photo β€”
he could climb up but couldn’t get down. Still, after trying again and again,
he finally figured out how to come down on his own!

Way to go, my boy!!!

There are circular monkey bars too,

and the slightly older kids were swinging across them like little gymnasts.

There are swings as well β€”
my little one and I had a competition to see who could swing the highest! lol

There’s a clown-shaped seesaw too,
with plenty of parents and kids enjoying it together.

There’s even a bouldering-style climbing wall,
and my child made it all the way to the top!

Quite the strong little climber β€” this mom was impressed!

There’s also a river nearby,
so in summer you can splash around in the water.
Both kids and adults can play, shop, and unwind here β€” a wonderful spot I highly recommend β™ͺ
