πŸ“Œ What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer’s firsthand visit to “TORTUEpain” in Kumamoto City. Price range: from 310 yen. We’ve also covered family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello there!

After a full day of playing at the park with my child and being completely worn out by their endless energy,
it’s me, Binako, your SaruKuma writer!

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to
“TORTUEpain”,
located in Shimizu Kameicho, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The chic exterior radiates such a stylish atmosphere β€” it’s absolutely lovely from the moment you arrive.

For parking, look for the bricks marked with the shop’s name in front of the store β€”
that’s where you can park your car β™ͺ

The interior is cozy and intimate,
but there’s such a wide variety of breads that I had a hard time choosing! (haha)

Daily Bread Set β€” 310 yen
This is perfect for indecisive folks like me β€” you get to try a curated assortment!

Cacao Rouge β€” 240 yen
Rhubarb & Cream Cheese β€” 270 yen
There were even some unique creations I’d never seen before β€” so exciting!

You’ll also find sandwiches made with crusty baguettes,

and for the health-conscious,
there’s the wholesome Five-Color Rice Bread Loaf β€” 420 yen! β™ͺ

Chewy Mont Blanc β€” 240 yen
This one’s a limited-time special, so Mont Blanc lovers,
hurry on over before it’s gone!

They also offer products like peanut butter,
perfect to pick up alongside your bread for the ultimate pairing! β™ͺ

The staff are warm and welcoming, taking time to explain each bread carefully β€”
it’s the kind of friendly bakery where you feel comfortable asking anything.

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I tried the
Dainagon Sweet Red Bean & Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea) Bread β€” 220 yen

It’s basically a dream bread packed with all my favorite Japanese flavors!

Insanely delicious!
The wonderfully chewy dough has the most incredible toasty aroma.

The dainagon (premium sweet red beans) are scattered generously throughout, giving it a delightful texture.
The gentle sweetness paired with the crisp, refreshing notes of hojicha tea creates a perfect balance β€”
you could eat it forever without getting tired of it.

Chocolate Bread β€” 230 yen
I also tried this one!

At first glance, the dough looked like it might be on the firmer side,
but it’s actually wonderfully soft and pairs beautifully with the chocolate on top.

There’s also chocolate inside,
making it a must-try for any chocolate lover!

With so many varieties to choose from,
this is definitely a bakery I’ll be returning to.

Be sure to give it a try when you’re in Kumamoto!
