📌 What you’ll discover in this article
A Sarukuma writer’s first-hand report on “Warokuya,” located in Manganji, Minamioguni, Aso District, Kumamoto. Price range: from 1,600 yen. We’ve also compiled family-friendly tips, access information, and opening hours.

Hello there, fellow travelers!

I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma, and I have to confess — even after eating dessert right after lunch, I still couldn’t resist sneaking in an early afternoon snack at 2 p.m. instead of waiting until the traditional 3 p.m. tea time!

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a wonderful spot located in Manganji, Minamioguni-machi, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture — the charming “Warokuya”.

This is one of the most popular cafes in the area, so I highly recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds!
For parking, please use the shared parking lot for Kurokawa Onsen visitors. ^^

Inside, you’ll find cozy table seating along with counter seats tucked toward the back of the cafe. ♪

The place was absolutely packed during my visit, with quite a line of customers waiting their turn!
They have children’s chairs available too, so families with little ones can dine here with peace of mind. ^^
The staff were incredibly friendly and patiently explained everything in detail. (*´艸`)

Recommended Menu Items

Here’s a look at the menu (*´Д`):
Three-Variety Curry — 1,600 yen
Akaushi (Red Beef) Curry — 1,200 yen
Akaushi Roast Beef Curry — 1,700 yen
Higo Akadori (Red Chicken) Karaage Set with Horse Salt — 1,100 yen

The menu offers a wonderful variety of mouthwatering curries and traditional Japanese set meals. (*´Д`)

The Three-Variety Curry stands out as the showstopper, featuring
Akaushi (red beef) curry, white curry, and horse meat curry all on one plate —
truly an extravagant curry feast!
It’s so luxurious that your spoon might just tremble with excitement…

For takeout, they offer
karaage (Japanese fried chicken), sausages, yogurt, and curry. ♪
Sausages can be ordered from one piece,
and karaage starts from two pieces. (*´艸`)

I went with the
Higo Akadori Karaage with Horse Salt — 2 pieces for 300 yen!

“Wait, the top and bottom pieces look different!”
I thought as I took my first bite, and then —
Wait… WAIT! Could this be…?!
It’s thigh meat AND breast meat!

What a delightfully thoughtful touch!
Getting to enjoy both cuts in one order had me practically jumping with joy!

And the best part? The karaage is wonderfully light without any greasy heaviness!
Ahh… pure bliss. This is heaven for any karaage lover.

Next up, I tried the
Aso Daichi no Megumi (Blessings of Aso) Pork Sausage — 150 yen!
Freshly grilled and piping hot, it instantly doubled my appetite.

SO incredibly juicy!!
The flavor explosion is off the charts!
I’m running out of words to describe how amazing this is!
The concentrated umami of this pork is simply unreal!

It’s deeply satisfying too, and at just 150 yen, you’ll be
completely satisfied
— guaranteed.

Although the cafe was too packed for me to sit down for lunch,
the takeout experience alone left me absolutely thrilled!

I highly encourage everyone to give Warokuya a visit during your trip to Kurokawa Onsen!
