Today I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem located in Hattanda, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Sosaku Karaage no Shinsei” (Creative Karaage Shinsei).

Shinsei has built a reputation among locals for serving some of the most delicious karaage (Japanese fried chicken) in town.
Naturally, I had to check it out for myself!

The shop offers a total of 3 parking spaces — some out front and a few in the back — making it convenient even if you’re driving in from elsewhere in Kumamoto.

Inside, you’ll find a small waiting area with two benches.
What I love is that the staff will happily bring your order out to your car after you’ve placed it —
perfect for travelers with kids in the back seat or anyone who wants a quick takeout experience!

I also spotted something called Morigan Tea for sale!
According to the flyer, it’s billed as one of the ultimate superfoods.

If you’re health-conscious while traveling, this is a fun bonus discovery ( *´艸｀)
Maybe drinking this means I can eat all the karaage I want…?

An ideal lunch option for travelers exploring Kumamoto ( ﾟДﾟ)

For my visit, I went with:

Shinsei Original Flavor — 100g — 220 yen

And it absolutely did not disappoint!

The Original Flavor blends Shinsei’s signature spices including garlic, tomato, and onion —

a unique seasoning you won’t find anywhere else!

And honestly,

the aroma the moment you open the box
is absolutely incredible!!

The presentation looked perfect, and I dove right in (*´Д｀)

This flavor is out-of-this-world good!!

I can only describe it as pure deliciousness!

The chicken is incredibly juicy and tender, the freshly fried coating is crispy, and with every bite, the seasoning melts together with the meat juices and oil for the most perfect harmony.
It’s truly unbeatable…
